About the Old West Auction

Brian Lebel’s Cody Old West Auction® began as a small start-up enterprise in Cody, Wyoming and has grown into a 400-lot, award winning Western auction. Consignments are collected throughout the year from around the globe, and the auction consistently features among the finest Western art, antiques and collectibles offered for public sale.

This year’s 23rd Annual Auction will be held at 5:00 pm, June 23rd at the Denver Merchandise Mart, on the Saturday evening during the three-day Old West Show. The Auction Preview begins Friday afternoon (see Schedule for more information). The Auction and the Preview are free and open to the public. Everyone is welcome – from the serious to the curious – to be a part of this exciting event.

Bidding is fun and easy and can be done live and in-person at the Auction, live online, live via phone bidding, and also by written absentee bid. You need not be in attendance to bid. The Old West Auction offers an extensive and ever-changing variety of Western art, antiques and collectibles. Fine art from both deceased and contemporary artists have included Frederic Remington, Edward Borein, Will James, John Moyers, Marjorie Reed, William Matthews, Harry Jackson, Charles M. Russell, Frank Tenney Johnson, Joseph H. Sharp and Olaf Wieghorst. Cowboy trappings and artifacts have included saddles from Main & Winchester, Bohlin, Meanea, Collins, Frazier and Miles City; spurs by G.S. Garcia, Messing & Sons, Kelly Bros; silver bits, horsehair bridles and the like. Old West items have included Buffalo Bill and 101 Ranch lithographs and memorabilia, gaming and saloon items, authentic apparel and furnishings. Antique, historic and collectible firearms are always represented and have included Colt, Winchester, and other notables. Native American artifacts have included beadwork, quillwork, basketry, pottery, jewelry, textiles, war shirts, weapons, and other Indian arts and crafts. The Auction also boasts personal and collectible items from historic figures that have included Annie Oakley, Bat Masterson, Judge Roy Bean, Roy Rogers, William F. Cody, Pawnee Bill, Wyatt Earp, Captain Jack Crawford and Jesse James.
